If you do not receive acknowledgment of your inquiry or your inquiry has not been satisfactorily addressed, you should then contact thawte . thawte will then serve as a liaison with the Website to resolve your concerns. However, please understand the thawte Privacy Program covers only information that is collected through this Website, and does not cover information that may be collected through software downloaded from the site.

This is how we will handle information you provide during your visit to our website.

Information you must provide

In visiting our site, you are required to provide information (a) to register a domain name, (b) to update information about a domain name previously registered, (c) to submit questions about our service, or (d) to order domain names or services. To register a domain name, you are required to provide the name you are registering; your name and postal address (or those of the person for whom you are registering the name); technical information about the computer with which the domain name will be associated; and the name, postal address, email address, and voice and (where available) fax telephone numbers for the technical, administrative, billing, and zone contacts for the domain name. Once the domain name has been registered, your registration agreement requires you to correct and update this data promptly. If you submit a question about our service, you will be asked to provide your name, telephone number, and email address.

Why you must provide the information

The information you provide when registering a domain name (or correcting or updating registration information) is required to allow the Internet to associate the domain name with your computer, to allow us to properly handle your account (including notifying you at renewal time), and to permit others operating or using the Internet to easily contact you to resolve issues that arise in connection with the domain name. It will also be stored under a data escrow program to keep the domain name operating in the unlikely event we leave the domain-name registration business. When you submit a question to our website, contact information is needed so that we may respond.

Who will receive the information

We will provide information you submit in registering a domain name or updating related information to our own employees and consultants, to the administrator of the registry for the top-level domain in which you are registering (currently Network Solutions, Inc. for .com, .net, and .org), to operators and users of the Internet making Whois queries concerning your domain-name registration, to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) (which provides technical coordination for the Internet), and to escrow agents, auditors, Whois service providers, and replacement registrars that VisPerNET may designate.

In addition, unless you instruct us otherwise we may periodically provide your registration information to other companies for inclusion in value-added Internet database and search services.

Information you provide in asking questions about our service may be given to our employees and consultants and, upon its request, to ICANN.

VisPerNET will not give any information about you to others without your express permission

Our Website uses forms on which you give us contact information (your name, address, daytime telephone number, and email address) so you can place orders, request information and support, and make product suggestions. We will then create an account number for you. If you choose to order from us using a credit card, we will collect your credit card number and expiration date. If you contact us for support, we will keep an internal record of what support was given. We use your customer information only when it will be important for us to contact you regarding functionality changes to our systems or services.

We also gather broad demographic information from this data to help us improve our site and make your browsing and purchasing experience more enjoyable. This is not linked to any personally identifiable information, except as necessary to prevent fraud or abuse on our system.

From time-to-time, our website requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary. The user has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level -- you must be 18 or above to enter). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.

What Happens to my Personal Information if I Terminate my VisPerNET Account?

When Your VisPerNET account is cancelled (either voluntarily or involuntarily), all of your personally identifiable information is placed in "deactivated" status on our relevant VisPerNET databases. Spam Policy

VisPerNET, Inc. does not tolerate the transmission of spam. We monitor all traffic to and from our Web servers for indications of spamming, and we maintain a spam abuse complaint center to register allegations of spam abuse. Customers suspected to be using VisPerNET products and services for the purposes of sending spam are fully investigated. Once VisPerNET determines there is a problem with spam, VisPerNET will take the appropriate action to resolve the situation. Our spam abuse complaint center can be reached by email at abuse@visper.net.

How We Define Spam

We define spam as the sending of Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE), Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE) or Unsolicited Facsimiles (Fax), which is email or facsimile sent to recipients as an advertisement or otherwise, without first obtaining prior confirmed consent to receive these communications from the sender. This can include, but is not limited to, the following:

  1. Email Messages
  2. Newsgroup postings
  3. Windows system messages
  4. Pop-up messages (a.k.a. "adware" or "spyware" messages)
  5. Instant messages (using AOL, MSN, Yahoo or other instant messenger programs) sometimes called "spim"
  6. Online chat room advertisements
  7. Guestbook, message board, or website comments and postings
  8. Facsimile solicitations

What We Allow and Don't Allow

We will not allow our servers and services to be used for the purposes described above. In order to use our products and services, you must not only abide by all applicable laws and regulations, which include the Can-Spam Act of 2003 and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, but you must also abide by VisPerNET 's no spam policies. Commercial advertising and/or bulk emails or faxes may only be sent to recipients who have already "opted-in" to receive messages from the sender specifically. They must include a legitimate return address and reply-to address, the sender's physical address, and an opt-out method in the footer of the email or fax. Upon request by VisPerNET, conclusive proof of opt-in may be required for an email address or fax number.

What We Do

If VisPerNET determines that the services in question are being used in association with spam, VisPerNET will re-direct, suspend, or cancel any website hosting, domain registration, email boxes or other applicable services for a period of no less than 2 days. The registrant or customer will be required to respond by email to VisPerNET stating that they will cease to send spam and/or have spam sent on their behalf. VisPerNET will require a non-refundable reactivation fee to be paid before the site, email boxes and/or services are reactivated. In the event that VisPerNET determines the abuse has not stopped after services have been restored the first time, VisPerNET may terminate the hosting and email boxes associated with domain name in question. We encourage all customers and recipients of email generated from our products and services to report suspected spam. Suspected abuse can be reported by email.
